M. Knight Shyamalan Twist for the Day: He ghost wrote She’s All That!

Yeah, I know right!? Who saw that twist coming? Turns out M. Night Shameaboutmylastfilm was the ghost writer for She’s All That. The 1999 teen romance which starred Freddie Prinze Jr. (Where’s he at these days?) and Rachel Leigh Cook (ditto). In an interview with Peter Hall, of, Shyamalan let the cat out of the bag.

That same year I wrote Stuart Little,” Shyamalan went on. “By the way, I ghost-wrote a movie that same year that would even add to the breadth of it all, but I don’t know if I want to tell you which movie I ghost-wrote.”

When (barely) pressed, Shyamalan revealed that he was the mastermind behind She’s All That. And then, that’s it! Hall didn’t have any follow-up question, so Shyamalan went on to discuss more Shyamalan-y things like how much he liked Let The Right One In and the fact that his next movie is called Reincarnate. What’s next? Paul Thomas Anderson admits to ghost writing 10 Things I Hate About You. Phillip Seymour Hoffman reveals he was Barney the Dinosaur. Cats and Dogs get along. Damn you Shyamalan! Nothing makes sense in this world anymore. To be fair to him, like most actors who need to pay the bills, beggars can’t be choosers and I’m sure there are many other writers who have had to do work they’re not proud of to get a foot in the door.
