OSCARS 2013 – Best Actress is Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook)

Oscar 2013 Jennifer Lawrence accepts the award for best actressAs young as Jennifer Lawrence is (22), she has always shown a wisdom beyond her years in many of her past roles. She was previously nominated for Winters Bone (*which reminds me I still need to see that) and was hotly tipped to win an Oscar in the near future. So it’s no surprise she won tonight for her role in David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook. See the film’s review here.

On her way up though, to collect the award, she managed to trip on the stairs…of course Hugh Jackman ran to her rescue.

The accident-prone star of Silver Linings Playbook managed to fall on the stairs just as she was making her way up to receive her coveted gong.

The 22-year-old, who only appeared in her first professional role six years ago, had endured acute embarrassment only four weeks earlier when her dress came apart as she went to collect a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Afterwards she laughed it off, managing a joke as she collected an Oscar for her performance as a recovering sex addict in the romantic comedy drama.

Reacting to the standing ovation she received, she said: “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell over and that’s embarrassing.

“This is nuts.” [Sky News]

Never mind Jennifer, you won and that’s all that matters. At the Golden Globes, where she also won Best Actress, she thanked Harvey Weinstein for “having to kill whoever he had to, to get her up there”, this time however he was not mentioned.
