Stanley Kubrick’s One-Point Perspective Shots

A talented video editor, under the user name “kogonada” put together this clip of several shots, illustrating the one-point perspective used in many Kubrick films. You can see scenes from Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange and many more.  The music in the background is from Clint Mansell’s score from Requiem Without a Dream.

With the advent of YouTube and Vimeo it’s now become possible for budding editors to compile some impressive supercuts and video illustrations to point out some key methodologies that have become defining signatures for directors.
