RIDLEY SCOTT ON SET OF PROMETHEUSThe countdown to Prometheus, has really and truly begun now – only one month to go before Ridley Scott’s Sci-fi epic bursts through our glorious IMAX 3D screens and into our popcorn. As if any more teasers or trailers were needed to keep our second pair of alien teeth from salivating, a new featurette is available online, reveals just a few more snippets of the film and a brief interview with Scott about the production.

I’m not a huge fan of 3D films, especially ones that apply the feature in post production, but with Prometheus, the film has been shot with dual-IMAX cameras, so it’s the real deal. In the featurette you can see Scott has been testing out the 3D glasses on set, demonstrating that no stone has been left unturned in his perfection of each shot.

Also in Prometheus news – 20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman said earlier today that the studio would not interfere with Ridley Scott’s vision, assuring fans that the film will not be watered down for a lower age rating, so if the final cut is rated R, it will stay intact. Phew! Good news then. I think the corporate suits have realised how big this film will be and understand the backlash they could face if they anger an army of fans who have been waiting 30 years for a follow up to the original Alien.

I can assure the fans—I’m very aware of their concern—absolutely they can take it that the film will not be compromised either way.  So if that means that the film is R, then it’ll be an R.  If it’s PG-13, then it’ll be a PG-13, but it will not be compromised. [Collider]
