Since viewing ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’, I’ve become a huge fan of Wes Anderson’s work. It’s hard to describe it, but his films have a unique signature that runs through every part of the film. Anderson’s hand can be seen in the clothes the actors wear, the dialogue they use, their inability to move with the times or even the great ear Anderson has for music. The supercut above illustrates another one of Anderson’s signatures, with his composition for ‘the center-framed, ceiling-down, above shot’.
Fans of ‘The Life Aquatic’ will also know of the superb Portuguese renditions of David Bowie’s classic tracks by Brazilian singer Seu Jorge. Here is one of my favourites…a cover of ‘Life on Mars’
